Dad arrived at Burke today, Wednesday January 7, 2015 around 3pm. The admissions process was easy and the admissions office had all of the paperwork ready. I just had to sign all of the authorization forms. The EMS techs who brought him from Jamaica Hospital took him directly to his room on the 2nd floor. The staff was extremely friendly. The nurses took his vitals and did an EKG. Soon after the physical therapist came in to to assess his walking ability. Soon after that, 2 attending doctors visited to hear the entire story of what happened and did a general and neurological exam.
All of the staff members were able to explain the therapies that Dad will be doing. He will be set up for 3 hours of therapy a day. Right now his is having is supper and he says that to food is much better. (That's Dad always thinking of his belly.)
His doctor, Dr. Hill, came by to introduce himself. I like this place already. They are efficient and there is no lag time.
