We have had a scary moment. After having new symptoms, (twitching of the left cheek, lips twisting to the left and the left hand spasmming into a claw appearance) Dad was taken to White Plains Hospital. The ER doctor began to treat Dad for a dystonic reaction to the new meds he was receiving at Burke. They gave him Benadryl which is what is commonly prescribed for that condition. He seemed to be doing better and we both began to dose off. I heard him yelp. When I looked up, his left arm away shaking and he was trying to use his right hand to stop the shaking. I told him to let go so I could see what was happening. He looked so scared as he said, "I have no control." Dad was in a full focal seizure. I called the doctor and they were able to give him Ativan to stop the seizure. A doctor asked him what his name was and he shouted Ted. He then called on Lord Jesus. Eventually the seizure stopped and They gave him another anti-seizure medication. He is resting now. A neurosurgeon came to speak with me to tell me that they were admitting him for monitoring but if the seizures continued he would have to be in ICU.
We need your prayers more than ever!

Apparently White Plains Hospital is over crowded with Flu patients. We were there for over 24 hours in the ER/ Intermediate Care wing. Dad finally got a room around midnight on Monday morning. I spoke with him this morning and he seems to be in good spirits. Before I left last night, Dad was being hooked up to an EEG to measure his brain activity. I am praying that all of these neurological issues, that are apparently common after a craniotomy, are temporary and are just the result of the surgery.
I have to write about the Nestor the RN who was assigned to Dad. He was an exemplary example of and RN. He listened to our concerns, went out of his way to make sure that Dad and I were comfortable. He attended to Dad as if he were a relative. Thank you Nestor, you were a God-send.
